To my great surprise I took up mountain biking in my early forties. I was terrified at first but quickly fell in love with it. On my bike I felt like I was kid again. Firstly, it is fun, but I have also benefited from biking in many other ways. I have got fit and I have overcome physical and mental challenges that previously I would never have imagined I was capable of, giving me a new-found confidence that I have taken into other areas of my life.
Biking has also introduced me to many wonderful people and has helped me to reconnect with and enjoy the outdoors. I feel incredibly lucky to live in a part of the world where great trails are on my doorstep.
Having gained to much from this, I joined the TVTA board to help give something back. I have a background in heritage and working with local authorities and boards of charities. To TVTA I bring experience in board development and governance which I hope will add strength to a new and growing organisation.
